Taylor Swift Announces 2020 Tour Dates To Support 'Lover'

Popstar Taylor Swift is heading out on the road next year to support her latest record, Lover.

The international trek will kick-off next June, starting in Europe and South America. She’ll hit cities like Werchter, Berlin, Oslo, and Sao Paulo, while stopping at Festival de Nimes in France, NOS Alive in Portugal, Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, and Poland’s Open’er Festival before traveling back to the states. Late July, she’ll play a two night show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium for “Lover Fest West,” followed by two performances at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium.

“The Lover album is open fields, sunsets, + SUMMER,” Swift said in a tweet alongside the announcement. “I want to perform it in a way that feels authentic. I want to go to some places I haven’t been and play festivals. Where we didn’t have festivals, we made some. Introducing Lover Fest East + West.”

At this time, U.K. and international dates, as well as more festival appearances, have not been announced.

While stadiums are not new for Swift – since she played stadiums like Gillette, MetLife, First Energy, and Papa John’s Cardinal on her Reputation Tour – these shows are a surprise, considering what she said earlier this month. She previously noted that Lover was an intimate album, so she wanted to play at smaller arenas on this tour.

“Stadiums are fun,” she said. “Stadiums are amazing – I love stadiums, I just don’t know if we’re going to do the same thing as we did last time.”

This might mean that she’s going to release more dates in the coming months on a smaller scale.

Lover, Swift’s seventh studio album, dropped earlier this month and features singles “You Need To Calm Down,” “The Archer,” and “ME!” with Brandon Urie of Panic! At The Disco. The LP, which Swift describes as “a celebration of love, in all its complexity, coziness, and chaos,” is a stark difference from 2017’s Reputation, which is revenge-driven, featuring darker vocals and hard-hitting choruses.
