LA28 Draws 12 Million Ticket Registrations With Two Years to Go

LA28 ticket demand is accelerating fast, with more than 12 million fans now registered for a chance to attend the 2028 Olympic Games.

That figure has more than doubled from the 5 million registrations announced in February, according to organizers, as Los Angeles marks two years until the Opening Ceremony. The surge comes as the LA28 Visa Presale opens for a second wave of Olympic tickets. Selected Visa cardholders can access tickets across all sports from July 29 through July 31, subject to availability.

“This has been an incredible summer of sports for fans across the globe, and LA28 is up next,” LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover said in a press release. “Twelve million people registered for a chance to buy tickets, a historic show of excitement, and it’s only the beginning.”

Fans from more than 200 countries and all 50 states have registered, with LA28 calling the Games the most in-demand ticketed event in Olympic history.

The registration boom follows a record-setting first ticket drop that moved more than 4 million tickets.

Local demand dominated the opening sale. Residents in the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City areas purchased nearly 75% of all Drop 1 tickets, including 95% of the inventory priced below $100. Fans also snapped up roughly 500,000 tickets priced at $28.

The next general ticket window, Drop 2, runs from August 10 through August 20. Selected fans will be notified by email on August 6 or 7 and will receive a 48-hour purchasing window. Fans who do not receive a Visa Presale time slot will automatically be entered into the Drop 2 drawing. Those selected for the Visa Presale will not be eligible for a second time slot during Drop 2.

Fans also have a chance to get even closer to the action with ticket-inclusive, premium hospitality packages, including elevated benefits like prime seating, priority venue entry, dedicated lounges and more via On Location.

LA28 and the Los Angeles Rams also announced the first recipients of the Games’ Community Ticket Program. Ten local organizations will receive a combined 1,000 free tickets to Olympic swimming and flag football. The tickets are funded through the Rams’ $5 million donation to the initiative. The program is designed to give more Los Angeles residents access to the Games, particularly those who might otherwise be priced out.

Olympic ticket buyers may purchase up to 12 event tickets across all presales and sales drops, plus another 12 tickets for the soccer tournament. Ceremony tickets are capped at four per purchaser and count toward the general 12-ticket limit. AXS and Eventim are powering the LA28 Visa Presale and Drop 2 as the Games’ official ticketing service providers.

Paralympic tickets are scheduled to go on sale in 2027.
