The Beach Boys Reschedule Summer Tour Dates to Allow Mike Love to 'Recharge'

The Beach Boys have rescheduled their remaining summer tour dates, allowing original member Mike Love time to “recharge.”

The band took to Instagram to note that “playing for you is the highlight of our summer every year — especially as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States while saluting the 60th anniversary of ‘Pet Sounds.'”

“We’ve been having a blast out there, and to keep the good vibrations going strong, we’ll be taking a short break to recharge before getting back on the road in September…Thanks for your love — we can’t wait to see you back out there for a September to remember.”

The Beach Boys added that all tickets purchased for the summer dates — between July 23 and September 3 — will be honored for the new dates in late September.

The remaining dates will now begin with a gig at The Big E in West Springfield, Massachusetts on September 24. From there, they’ll head to North Myrtle Beach, Nashville, Calgary, and a two-night stay at Orlando’s America Gardens Theatre before wrapping-up at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol, Virginia on November 13.

The Beach Boys first rose to fame with their debut 1962 record Surfin’ U.S.A., which garnered attention for their California surf sound. This was followed by albums that went on to become rock classics, including 1966’s Pet Sounds and 1968’s Friends. Following Brian Wilson’s passing last year, Love remains the sole original member of the band.
